I'm wondering if we visit Dollywood will we feel like we're in Silver Dollar City? We really love SDC but I'd hate to drive so much farther and there not be any real differences in the parks. I know that if we go to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg that we'll do other things too but my kids really like theme parks and I don't want them to feel like we've already been here and done this. I hope I'm making sense. Anyway if you've been to both I'd like to hear from you!

I have not been to Silver Dollar City but it looks a lot like Dollywood from what I can tell. One thing that Dollywood has is Splash Country and it is great for kids of all ages.
Anyone else agree or disagree?

Well, Dollywood used to be a Silver Dollar City, so there will be some similarities. But I think Dolly has added so much to the park that your kids would still have a good time.

While the two parks have similar atmospheres, they are not "clones" of each other. Dollywood has several rides/attractions unique to it, just as Silver Dollar City has several rides/attractions unique to it.
Dollywood is also bigger than Silver Dollar City. Dw covers 120 acres, SDC covers around 60.
Like said, I'm sure your kids would enjoy Dollywood just as much as they enjoy SDC. ;)

I think the parks have totally different feels. Of course it's been a few years since we've been to Dollywood - were at SDC about 2 years ago.
I'm not sure how to explain it really ... SDC has been around for years and years... so it seems VERY established ... and somehow Dollywood seems more - for lack of a better word "Modern" ?
Anyway BOTH are fun ... and BOTH are different enough that you won't seem like you're just repeating a park..

Dollywood was Silver Dollar City when Dolly took it over several years ago. She has spent millions of dollars molding it into her own style and I think the changes are dramatic. Not that Dollywood is better than SDC, but the money she has spent there has made it quite different from what it used to be. In that respect, I guess Dollywood is "more modern". It has almost been a game to see "what's new at Dollywood". I have to admit that we haven't been there for a while, so when we do go back I'm sure we will be impressed.
